DC Shoes is an American company specializing in footwear for extreme sports, including skateboarding, snowboarding, BMX, motocross, rally car racing, and surfing, as well as snowboards, shirts, jeans, hats, and jackets.
The company was founded in 1994 by Ken Block and Damon Way, and is based in Vista, California. DC originally stood for 'Droors Clothing Footwear', but since the sale of Droors Clothing (which is now defunct), DC no longer has ties to Droors and is simply DC Shoes. Some speculation says it means Dyrdek Collection because of the fact that the main person sponsoring the shoe company is Rob Dyrdek, skateboarding professional

When winter fun sports such as snowboarding was still an unpopular, misunderstood sport, and skateboarding was thought of as declining and had negative or lack of mainstream media coverage, DC Shoes wasn’t concerned with the skateboarding industry’s downward spiral. DC Shoes’ Co-Owners Ken Block and Damon Way scored the skateboarding endorsement of skateboarding prodigy and younger brother of Damon, Danny Way in 1991 and has since been one of the top skateboarding companies in the United States. DC Shoes was among the first to capitalize on the skateboard, snowboard, and adventure sports. DC Shoes started out selling shoes, then branched out to clothing, which now makes up 25 percent of its sales. In 2003, sales reached $100 million. DC Shoes is a privately held company that has remained independent throughout the years. Today, DC Shoes employ more than 150 people and distribute in 52 countries. DC shoes is estimated to have more than $250 million in retail sales yearly. Recently, DC Shoes has decided to increase their line of products and has been sold to Quicksilver.
